My Personal PC

Budget

£1,800

The Build

Built for the absolute maximum gaming performance at the time I installed an Intel i7-8700k processor, cooled by a Corsair H115i Pro All-in-One liquid cooler, alongside a Gigabyte Auros GTX 1080Ti Graphics Card. At the time, this PC was capable of gaming at 1440p or higher resolutions with the absolute maximum settings - something I had dreamed of since having only a laptop for pc gaming the years prior.
It's 16GB's of G.Skill's Trident Z RGB DDR4 RAM @ 3200Mhz was, and still is, excellent for gaming - though an increase in productivity workloads has seen me upgrade to 32GB's since then.
All of these components sit on an ASUS Maximus Hero X Z370 motherboard, with a Samsung m.2 NVMe boot drive to deliver near-instant start up with a 4TB Samsung 860 Evo 2.5" SSD as the mass drive. This combination of M.2 boot and SSD mass provides the best price-to-performance ratio and is largely the foundation of my storage layouts today - the faster but more expensive M.2 drives in smaller volumes for core functions, with the SATA SSD's still delivering excellent read/write speeds with much greater storage capacity for a lower price.
